Plato’s Closet. Deptford, NJ.

Okay, I love Plato’s Closet.

This was my first time inside the store and I’m already obsessed. First of all, it is huge. I am talking warehouse huge. And there are clothes covering every inch of the store—incredible. In addition to the heart-stopping initial reaction, I was also thrilled with the quality of the merchandise. There are racks upon racks of different brands for men, women, and kids—all at up to 70% off mall retail prices! The store is organized by gender and then by type of clothing. There are also various sections featuring new arrivals from specific stores such as, Forever21, Urban Outfitters, Express, American Eagle, and Juicy Couture.

Because the store is so big, I had to prioritize. I decided to continue the spring break hunt as to not become overwhelmed by the massive amount of clothing in the store. I would definitely recommend setting aside a solid chunk of time if you plan on coming to Plato’s Closet, you’ll need it. My first stop was the sun dress rack, then the skirts and finally the summer blouses. I was amazed at how many items still had the original retail tags on them!

Plato’s Closet is always buying items, so whenever you feel like your closet is becoming a little cramped head on over! While the retail associate looks through your items you are free to shop around the store. The buyer will then create an offer for you based on style, condition, brand, and the store’s current stock level. Typically the items they buy have been in retail stores within the past 12 to 18 months and are current styles still seen in the mall. If you accept their offer you will be on your way with some extra cash and maybe a chic new outfit or two! I shopped at Plato’s Closet in Deptford, NJ, but there is also another location nearby in Maple Shade, NJ. Each location has its own personal site that they update when they have clearance sales, new items available, etc.

I made 3 trips to the fitting room, each time I had about two gigantic armfuls of clothing with me. After a very strict process of elimination I narrowed my findings down to these five items:

A yellow, high-waisted skirt by Four Stars, $7.

Patterned mini skirt by Billabong, $10.

Floral short sleeve dress by Kimchi and Blue, $16.

Plaid Sun dress by Charlotte Russe, $7.

Floral Ruffle Sun dress by Mimi Chica, $9.

Obviously, the prices are amazing and there is a nice variety of clothes. Because I am rather indecisive, I ended up leaving with only three items. A chambray romper from Target, the plaid sun dress from Charlotte Russe, and an orange tank from Free People that I plan to wear as a beach cover up.

Have you ever been to Plato’s Closet? What did you buy/sell?
